What is a Training Practice?

Key Information

  • Approved to Train: Being a training practice means our surgery has been officially approved to train the next generation of GPs.
  • Qualified Doctors: GP Trainees are fully qualified doctors who have already worked for several years in hospitals and are now specialising in General Practice.
  • Benefits for Patients: Training practices help keep the whole team up to date with modern treatments and clinical standards.
  • Longer Appointments: You may find that appointments with GP Trainees are slightly longer, giving you more time to discuss your concerns.

What Happens Next?

When you visit our practice, you may be offered an appointment with one of our GP Trainees.

They are a valuable part of our team and bring recent experience and up-to-date knowledge from their hospital roles.

Please be assured they are always supervised by one of our experienced GPs, who acts as their dedicated GP Trainer.

By supporting our trainees, you are playing an important part in the future of the NHS and helping them become the expert GPs of tomorrow.

Confidentiality and Your Consent

As part of their training, you may be asked for consent to have a consultation recorded for learning purposes.

This is always kept strictly confidential, and you are always free to say no without it affecting your care in any way.

Your comfort and privacy are paramount.
