Winter Wellness: A Simple 3-Part Plan

Key Information

As the days get shorter and colder, we recommend a simple plan to stay well.

Instead of a long list of things to remember, focus on three key areas: Defences, Routine, and Community.

Part 1: Prepare Your Defences

This is what we do now, before the cold really sets in.

1. Vaccination (The Most Effective Defence)

  • Make sure you are protected against the viruses that thrive in winter.
  • Flu Jab: For eligible patients.
  • COVID-19 Booster: For those eligible this autumn.
  • RSV Vaccine: Now available for older patients and pregnant people.

2. Home Preparation

  • Check your heating is working correctly.
  • Ensure you have warm clothes and blankets ready.

Part 2: Your Daily Winter Routine

  • Keep Warm: Wear layers and keep your home at a comfortable temperature.
  • Fuel Your Body: Eat regular hot meals and drinks.
  • Movement & Mind: Keep active with gentle exercise and try to get outside in natural daylight.
  • Minor Illness: Your local pharmacy is your first port of call for coughs and colds.

Part 3: Strengthen Our Community

Winter can be an isolating time. Looking out for each other makes a real difference.

  • Check in on neighbours, especially those who are older, live alone, or have long-term conditions.
  • A simple phone call or helping with shopping can make a big difference.
