Managing Type 2 Diabetes: You Are in the Driver's Seat

Key Information

  • The First Steps: A diagnosis is life-changing, but you are in control. Lifestyle changes are often the most powerful first step.
  • The Goal: Lower blood sugar levels to reduce long-term health risks and, in some cases, improve or reverse the condition.

The Three Pillars of Management

We will support you in three key areas to help you take control of your health.

Diet: Making Healthier Choices

  • This is about balance, not restriction.
  • Eat more fruits, vegetables, and wholegrain options.
  • Reduce sugar and saturated fats.

Physical Activity: Moving More

  • Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week.
  • This can include everyday activities such as:
  • A brisk walk.
  • Cycling.
  • Vigorous gardening.

Weight Management

  • If you are overweight, even small changes make a big difference.
  • Losing just 5% of your body weight can significantly improve blood sugar levels.
